After a great long weekend with friends, I was in no mood to jump into school again.  Anyone with me?

So here’s a peek at what we did these last 2 weeks:

Apple Theme Day: He did most of the activities from the kindergarten pack and a couple from 2 Teaching Mommies’ Apple Preschool Pack. I however only captured a couple activities with the camera.

Apple Math
This is a great activity to reinforce basic addition skills, plus my son loves it because it is hands on.  It would have been a lot more fun if I had some black beans, but oh well.  To take it to the next level I had him record his math sentences (included in pack).

Apple Parts
This activity is actually found in 2 Teaching Mommies’ Apple Preschool Pack.  The original printable has letters in the blank boxes to help younger kiddos, I went ahead and took that out for him.

He also did the apple observations from the preschool pack.  He loves to do food observations…he is very fond of eating.

Intro to the World: Cultures (Core A): These past two weeks we finished up our look at Firsts People and Ancient Egyptians.  With friends in town I didn’t get have time to research craft ideas, but the boy still seemed to enjoy learning ancient civilizations.

We finished up the section of First People with how they travelled.  One way they travelled was in a boat called a coracle.  We took advantage of the craft that was included in Living Long Ago.  To be honest this turned out to be more of an adult craft…well more of a Daddy craft.  The boy and I work on it together and I was having issues with the frame, but Daddy came to the rescue and got it all fixed up. It was exciting to see that it actually floated.

Science A: Biology, Botany, and Physics: In science we’ve been learning all about weather, clouds and the water cycle.

We found some great free resources to incorporate into our readings this week.  Make sure and take advantage of these great resources. We are tracking our weather using a printable found in Homeschool Creations calendar pack.   This is a great way to see how the weather changes over time.  And then I found this wonderful cloud craft from The Wise Nest.  It turned out so cute and I highly suggest doing it when your family studies the different types of clouds.

The Water Cycle
I wanted to reinforce what we read about the water cycle this past couple of weeks, so I threw together a labeling activity.  Even though the boy didn’t learned the big vocabulary words in the reading, I thought it was important to know the actual terms used in the water cycle.
