Virtue User Review
A Little Info About We Choose Virtues…
  • It was developed by Heather McMillian, a preschool teacher & children’s pastor.
  • It has memorable catchphrases and endearing characters.
  • Offers products for home, school or church use.
  • Each Virtue Card has a short story to illustrate what the virtue looks like when it is lived out.  Plus, various application activities.

During the month of March they are running a special. Use promo code HOMESCHOOL25 to get 25% off your Homeschool Kit purchase.

So, here is my honest opinion of the products I received:
  • Colorful Attention Grabbing Graphics – Each virtue has an unique character illustration that is used to help the kiddos recall the virtue.  My son loved flipping through them and looking at each character. Plus, the layout of the cards is well organized making it easy to read and use.
  • Practical Application Tips – I personally loved the What to say after “I’m sorry” section.  Takes the guess work out for the parents, but also helps to reinforce the virtue in real life situations for the kiddo.

Home based teaching cards-1 (1)

  • Helpful Tools – The Virtue User Review pack is a helpful tool for keeping parents informed.  As a previous teacher I always loved things that were quick to fill out, so that I can let parents know how their kiddo is doing.  However, this was also great for in the home.  I was able to use it as a report for Daddy, so he knew how he could encourage good behavior, as well as help with reinforce things the boy needed to work on.

Overall, this is a quality product that would be ideal for any home, church or school.   Although some of the virtues are difficult concepts to grasp for my son, we’ve been able to pull them out in teachable moments to help him make the connections.

I have 5 children, 3 girls (16,14,11) and 2 boys (4,1).  The girls seemed to take right to learning all things about God, Jesus, virtues.  My 4 year old boy is another story.  Everything is good guy, bad guy etc.  We us real life situations of family and friends to talk about virtues and which ones we should pray for others to be made aware of and which ones we can use to set examples as a family of God.

Wow, thank you for the giveaway, this looks great!  We currently just discuss character traits we see in books we read and try to find verses to match them.  We plan to start a lapbook on character soon and have been looking at ATI curriculum.

We try to model good behavior in our home.  We also give a lot of positive feedback when we see the children exhibiting these character traits.  We also read a bible verse and trait each week (My ABC Bible Verses and Big Thoughts for Little People).

By reading and reflecting on God’s Word, the Bible, not only do we come to know our Creator’s ways but we also learn to do what is right.—Isaiah 48:17.  By prayerfully relying on Jehovah God, we too can overcome our inclination to do what is bad and cultivate a “new spirit” to do good.

We do devotions, scripture memorizing, and prayer every morning before school. It helps to keep what they have learned in the back of their mind as they go throughout the day (although many days it doesn’t stick as much as I would like it too!).

We have some laminated pictures of fruit with one of the the fruits of the spirit written on each one.  Then we have the kids pictures laminated with velcro on the back.  When they are demonstrating one of the fruits of the spirit, someone else from the family can move their picture to that fruit.  It’s a great visual and the kids like seeing how many fruits they can visit during the day.

When my childern hurt someone I tell them they need to make it right and make peace, they then have to appologize to that person and say what they did wrong and the other person says I forgive you.

We talk about good character we read the toddlers book of virtues and other character building books but I would LOVE to win this set and use it with the kids. My Daughter REALLY needs this. I feel she is the least thankful, least grateful, least appreciative, least empathetic, least compassionate 4 year old I know:(  Oh I forgot Least content!  It is so hard to get her to see anything positive.
