Tot School- The Ocean

This post may contain affiliate or advertiser links. Read my full disclosure policy .

Lil’man is 32 months.

This week we focused on learning all about the ocean.   It was so much fun to look back to last summer when we spent 2 weeks on the ocean & beach.  He has learned so much this past year.

Here are just some of the things we did. You can see other activities from this unit by visiting Amber at The Belly of the Whale.

Language Arts: Lil’man fished for Letter Sounds.  I cut out some fish from construction paper, wrote a letter on each one and added a staple for its eye. Lil’man then used the fishing pole from his Melissa & Doug Magnetic Fishing GameAffliation Link to capture his fish.

Here are some of the books we read this week.

Math Concepts: Lil’man  worked on spatial memory and spatial visualization skills by matching sea animals with their sea shadows…

…as well as, completing various other puzzles. Lil’man is really into puzzles right now, can you tell?   The first picture is of a puzzle we found at the Target $1 spot. The second picture is his Melissa & Doug Magnetic Fishing Game.Affliation Link

He even decided to mix the two activities into one.  He took his Sea Shadow animal pieces and matched them to the pieces from his Magnetic Fishing Game.

Science Concepts: We learned all about various sea animals by doing an assortment of activities in Carisa’s Ocean Animals Tot Book. (We did some of this last year, but he was definitely more into this year.)

I wish I still lived in California, so I could have taken Lil’man to the beach to experience real waves, but since we couldn’t go to the ocean I decided to bring a Ocean Wave to him…in a bottle of course.

Extras: We had a fun family night, which was all about the ocean.   I was inspired by  Muffin Tin Meal – Under the Sea theme for our meal and then we had some fun creating a paper bag fish.

For Fun: Here is my favorite shot from the week:

So, there you go, that was our week.  Don’t forget, you can download all the printables  (not all seen here) for FREE  at 2 Teaching Mommies.

Next Week we will be focusing on The Desert! I hope you stop by to check it out!

Most importantly, don’t miss out on what others are doing at 1+1+1=1!

I can see why that is your favorite shot of the week — what a bright and infection smile!

Great activities. You can practically hear the surf pounding on the shore 😉
