Tot School- The Forest

This post may contain affiliate or advertiser links. Read my full disclosure policy .
Lil’man is 33 months.

This week we learned all about The Forest.   Below are just some of the things we did. You can see other activities from this unit by visiting Amber at The Belly of The Whale.

Language Arts: This week we tried something new for “writing,” we used push pins and poked them into the P like it was a Light Brite.Affliation Link

We also did a color by letter activity.  I really had to work to get him to color more than just over the letter and wasn’t very successful.  At least, I managed to get him to color in the bear for the most part.

Here are some of the books we read this week.

Math Concepts: For math Lil’man rolled a graph.  This was a fun game and we took turns rolling the die.  We added a dot sticker (labeling dotsAffliation Link) to our graph each time we rolled.  The great thing about this activity is you don’t have to use the stickers, you can color it in, use stamps or even dot paints.Affliation Link

Below is the progression of our graph.

Science Concepts: We had a lot of fun learning about the forest this week.  One activity that I was really excited about was the animal track match puzzles.  Lil’man has been into puzzles and I thought he would get a big kick out of this, while learning all about animal tracks.

Extra: This week Lil’man helped me make are movie night treat.  We made Warm Toasted Marshmallow S’more Bars.  They were a little sweet for my blood, but were a big hit with the boys.  We had a fun time chowing down, while we watched Brother Bear.

For Fun: My favorite pics from the week are of him modeling off his finished products.  He always says to me, “Take picture of me.”  (Note to Self: Be better at pulling out my camera when we aren’t doing Tot School.)

The dice/graphing looks like a lot of fun. I need to make one.

I think that’s brave to use pushpins. I have visions of my kids sticking them anyplace except where I wanted them 😉

My favorite theme yet? Where did you get the die for the roll a graph game?

I have some jumbo pushpins that I haven’t tried yet cuz I didn’t think she’s old enough. Maybe I’ll have to give them a go after all.

It was the first time I got them out and I was a bit nervous that he would poke himself, but he didn’t. Of course, I didn’t leave his side while he was doing it.

So glad to see your visit to my blog! That is cute, “take a picture of me”. I have to do stealth pictures as my son often runs away or stops his activity if he sees me with the camera. I really like the animal track puzzle! I’ve never seen anything like that and love going for nature hikes and seeing all the tracks (so this would be fun for mommy too)!
