Tot School- May 17th

Lil’man is 29 months tot_school150

As summer approaches, our life seems to be taking place more and more outside of the home.  Of course this would be fine for Tot School, but it doesn’t really help when I don’t have my camera.  Therefore, be aware that Tot School posts may be lacking as we enjoy summertime.

The one day of Tot School that took place at home started with sorting and making patterns.  I recently made my way to IKEA and picked up some fun ice cube trays.  (I think Carisa may have the one below.) Lil’man then used some colorful popsicle sticks to place into the tray.  I would start patterns for him and then he would finished them.  He then got some free time to just play with it.

While at IKEA, the husband had to pick up a train set for the boy. We got a board at Home Depot and cut it down to fit on top of the coffee table.  We then added some rubber pads to the bottom to prevent sliding and protect the table from scratches. Presto chango…coffee table to train table.

The boy also enjoyed doing some oldies by goodies.

Not Pictured: Two play dates this week.  Well, one play date was more of a mommy meeting, but he meet a new friend, Elisabeth, and they did a great job playing together quietly.

So we had a busy week, but not much to show for it.  How was your week?  Curious about what others did? Then check out 1+1+1=1.

Hooray for IKEA!! Love it! Just had my first trip there and did a major redo on our school room.

We’ve been having short weeks too.

I am enjoying your Tot School posts a lot. I haven’t tried anything yet, but I am starting to see that my daughter is getting a little “bored” and needs more challenges. At 21 months, she has gotten the talking thing down and now seems ready to move on to bigger and better things. I’m hoping to get started with Tot school this summer. I’ve been storing away your ideas for future use!! Thanks!

You very welcome. I just go with the flow and try not to stress when we can’t get to things planned or things planned don’t work out. Keep me post on how it goes.

Thanks Kara. Do you do post about Tot School? I would love to check it out if you do. I haven’t had a chance to check out the other posts yet. Laundry has kept me occupied today.

I love how he’s using his new train table with a bear tucked under his arm. That’s really sweet! 🙂

I must be hiding under a rock or something, as I had no idea that Ikea carries train sets. Now I have one more reason to want to make the 9o minute drive to Ikea…

I am glad that I am not the only one with short weeks or a love for IKEA! We were flyer shopping for school room organization and got some great ideas. Now just to find the time to back up there to shop. I bet you are loving your new school room. Will you be posting pictures? I would love some inspiration!

Oops – I meant to mention that your homemade train table is a great idea! That way you can just slide it off when it’s not in use…perfect!

I just started writing about Lucy and what she does. My first Tot School is here: https://www.rockingranola.com/2010/05/toddler-time-lucy-24-months.html

My laundry *should* be keeping me occupied, but I’ve ignored it 😉

    Have a great week!

We are definately loving the room.  I think my tot might like it best of all.  Since the redo, she has been so cooperative with tot school.  Before she refused just about everything.  I guess she didn’t like working in the livingroom. LOL

We purchased several of the Billy Bookcases and some pieces from the Trofast system.  The easiest assembly we’ve ever done.
