Lil’man is 34 months.
This week we had fun with a Halloween theme. Below are just some of the things we did. You can see other activities from this unit by visiting Amber at The Belly of The Whale.
Language Arts: For our language arts activities we did Bat Rhyming (_at family) from Making Learning Fun. Since the boy has never done a rhyming activity before, I took out all the pictures that didn’t actually rhyme. So, basically it was just an activity to introduce him to rhyming.
We also did some more beginning writing activities, but this time Lil’man actually liked it. He usually gets frustrated because he can’t stay on the line, so we created a printable with no lines. All he had to do was get the trick or treater to the house by drawing his own line. As you can see below, he did it with his right and left hand.

Math Concepts: He had a lot of fun with the Trick or Treating counting. Each card has a different number of trick or treaters on it. Lil’man counted each card to figure out how many pieces of candy needed to go into the jack-o-lantern bucket.
Halloween Fun: We had more candy fun by sorting it by the first letter. I think the boy loved this just because he got to play with candy.
Extra: During our family night, we carved a jack-o-lantern after reading The Pumpkin Patch Parable. This year he actually got into it. Last year he wasn’t very excited about touching the slimy pulp and the year before he was just into eating it.

Once we finished carving it, we put a candle in it to see how it would look all lit up. Lil’man then had to blow it out.
For Fun: This is my favorite shot from the week. He is looking so grown up.
