Spring Rain

This post may contain affiliate or advertiser links. Read my full disclosure policy .
I’m not sure what your spring weather has been, but we have been experiencing quite a bit of nasty weather in our parts of the woods.  So, this week’s lesson have been very appropriate.

Here is what we’ve been doing this week. Let us know what you think.  We hope by providing these materials to you free of charge, it will make your life easier!

Lesson Plan: The lesson plan includes all the lessons for the week, as well as optional ideas. Items following the lesson plan are just the printables or links to websites we used to teach these plans.  (Please note: On top of our lesson plan we are reading books daily that relate to our theme.)

{Coming Soon.  Family in town.}

Memory Verse: This memory card is for daily use during our calendar time.  You can learn more about calendar time at 1+1+1=1 or Homeschool Creations.  Our weekly devotional is an object lesson that will help your child apply the meaning of the verse to them.

Day 1: Raindrops
Beginning Rain Writing- (Can also be used for cutting practice.)You can use this document over and over again if you laminate it and then have you child write with dry erase markers. (Black dry erase wipes off easier than color ones.)

Count the Raindrops- This activity will help your child begin to read, count and model whole numbers 1-10.

Cotton Ball Clouds- This is a fun science activity that we found at Naturally Educational. It has your kiddo exploring what happens to a cloud when it becomes full of moisture.  We created this experiment sheet to go with it.

Day 2: Storms
Storm Letter Match- Have your child match the capital letter to the lowercase letter to reinforce letter recognition.

Storm Size Sequencing– Work on recognizing different sizes and vocabulary such as bigger and smaller with this sequencing activity.  We’ve also included a Size Sort.

Storm Science– Here a few experiments about different storms that you could do with your kiddo.
  • For Lightning from Weather Wiz Kids.
  • For Tornadoes/Storms from PBS Kids.

Day 3: Rainbows
Rainbow Spelling Puzzle- This activity will help your child begin to recognize that when letters are combined they form words.
Rainbow Shape Match– Review shapes by matching each side of the rainbow.

Make a Rainbow- Here a few experiments about making rainbows that you could do with your kiddo.
  • How to Make a Rainbow from eHow.

  • Catch a Rainbow from Kid Zone.

We hope you enjoy these lesson plans and please let us know if you have any issues with downloading or using the items provided.

Please do not sell or host these files anywhere else. You MAY link people here. When leading others to these printables, please link to THIS page, not the 4shared file page.  Thanks! (See TOU)

I feel ridiculous asking this after you both share so much hard work, but any chance you would think about doing one big package download link for the unit studies? I appreciate everything and am so grateful for all you guys share!
