Some Clarity on the Resurrection Eggs

This post may contain affiliate or advertiser links. Read my full disclosure policy .

You know, sometimes we have really good ideas.  Not everything, however, goes according to plan, which is why we really like to try things out before you do.  That’s the main reason you get our units AFTER we do them.

As we’ve written the last couple of days about the Resurrection Eggs we’ve come to realize that days 5-9 deal with some pretty heavy stuff for tots.  Now we don’t want to take away from the truth of the Gospel, and we know that the people behind Resurrection Eggs included each symbol for a reason.  However, our goal in putting these lessons together was to make things easier for mommies, and we’re not sure 5 days of dwelling on Christ’s death will make things easier for those of you with really small tots.

That being said, Madonna and I both will be doing the eggs for days 5-9 in one lesson.  We want to include all of the symbols, but we’re not sure that we need to spend that many days on Christ’s suffering and death.  The main goal of the lessons is that Jesus hurt for us.  He let himself hurt because He loved us.  If we can get that across to our 3 year olds, we consider that a successful Gospel presentation.

You can obviously make the choice that works best for your family, and your kiddos.  We just wanted to let you know what page we are on so that you know!

We hope each of you will have a blessed Easter season!

That’s what I was planning on doing too. I was just wondering which other symbols I could add to make up the extra ones.

Let me just say – you wrote this post with such wisdom and such thoughtfulness and humility and clarity. I appreciate your desire to seek God in everything and in how you share Him with your Happy Home. I do think it’s important to be protectively honest with our Happy Buddies about the suffering Christ endured, but the real focus is on the joy of the outcome! Thank you for helping us do that. You ladies are a treasure!

We probably won’t add any extra symbols, just talk about these eggs together as one day. My plan with E is to let her make the crown of thorns as a sensory activity, and then make the personalized cross from Day 9 as reminder that Christ died for her.
