Secrets of the Apple Tree

We discovered a great new apple book from Usborne, The Secrets of the Apple Tree.

Secrets of the Apple Tree

Storyline

Who lives around the apple tree? Shine a light behind the page and see . . . From worms wriggling among the roots, to birds nesting high in the branches, the hidden wonders of this amazing habitat are revealed.

Overall Thoughts

We LOVE this interactive book from Usborne.  My boys are huge fans of flashlight play and books, so this Shine-A-Light book was a big hit! Now, Lil’Bro (18 months) can’t sit through the whole thing and in true toddler fashion likes to flip through the pages quickly, but still enjoys shining the light.

I love how this book takes a different look at an apple tree.  Instead of focusing on the apples, it focuses on how the apple tree provides a habitat for many living things.  It shows how every part of the tree is important, from its base to the tips of its leaves.  I would highly recommend this book, especially if you have a reluctant reading listener.  Shining a light to reveal the hidden image is sure to keep them engaged.

My daughter really got into the Usborne books by reading a book called Danny the Dragon. She loves to see the pictures of other books in front and back pages. We have a bunch now.

There are so many amazing Usborne books that it is hard to choose a favourite! We really love the fairy tale and activity books though – great ideas, illustrations and very entertaining.
