This unit has been expanded. So, make sure and check out the additional printables here.

Here is what we’ve been doing this week. Let us know what you think.  We hope by providing these materials to you free of charge, it will make your life easier!

Lesson Plan: The lesson plan includes all the lessons for the week, as well as optional ideas. Items following the lesson plan are just the printables or links to websites we used to teach these plans.  (Please note: On top of our lesson plan we are reading books daily that relate to our theme.)

Memory Verse: This memory card is for daily use during our calendar time.  You can learn more about calendar time at 1+1+1=1 or Homeschool Creations.  Our weekly devotional is an object lesson that will help your child apply the meaning of the verse to them.

(Not sure why all of the image is not showing up on 4Share. Sorry.)

Day 1:
P is for Pumpkins- Teaches your child how letters are linked to sounds to form letter-sound correspondence. (For this activity you can do a lowercase p or a capital P.)

Number Maze: Pumpkin Patch-  This activity will help your child practice counting whole numbers 1-10 in order by 1s.

Day 2:
Color By Letter Pumpkin- Reinforces capital letter and lowercase letter recognition.

Flip & Cover: Pumpkin Patch– This activity will help your child begin to read, count and model whole numbers 1-10.  (Pick the counting cards that would be best for your child.) You can use a variety of objects to cover your pumpkins, such as: orange pom poms, bingo chips, pumpkin stickers, dot paint, magnets, etc. Affilation links.

Life Cycle of a Pumpkin– To do this activity we read a book and as we read, I allow my son to use picture clues from the story to identify the next stage in the pumpkin life cycle.  Then I had him find the printed image and glue it on to the paper plate. A couple of good books include: It’s Pumpkin Time! and From Seed to Pumpkin.Affilation links. We found several life cycle cards that you could use: Kizclub– Sequencing Cards and Montessori for Everyone-Life Cycle of a Pumpkin.

Note: The Life Cycle images above were not created by us, I just colored them in Photoshop Elements.  You can download the original blackline master from A to Z Teacher Stuff.

Day 3:
Build a Letter P- Teaches your child how letters are constructed by building them in a fun way. (Download the whole alphabet below and laminate. Print on cardstock for more durability.)

Measure the Pumpkin Vines– This activity will help your child gain experience in measurement by using a non-standard measuring tool.

Fall Lapbook– We went ahead a created a fall lapbook to use with this unit.  It touches on a variety of skills, such as shapes, colors, size sequencing, etc..
We hope you enjoy these lesson plans and please let us know if you have any issues with downloading or using the items provided.
