The Nativity

This post may contain affiliate or advertiser links. Read my full disclosure policy .

This unit has been expanded. So, make sure and get all the printables here.

Here is what we’ve been doing this week. Let us know what you think.  We hope by providing these materials to you free of charge, it will make your life easier!

Lesson Plan: The lesson plan includes all the lessons for the week, as well as optional ideas. Items following the lesson plan are just the printables or links to websites we used to teach these plans.  (Please note: On top of our lesson plan we are reading books daily that relate to our theme.)

Memory Verse: This memory card is for daily use during our calendar time.  You can learn more about calendar time at 1+1+1=1 or Homeschool Creations.  Our weekly devotional is an object lesson that will help your child apply the meaning of the verse to them.

Day 1:
Christmas Spelling Book- Using spelling tiles or Scrabble pieces, have your child match the letters for each word to practice beginning spelling.

Nativity Shadow Match-  Will help your child work on shape recognition and matching.

Picture Timeline of Nativity story- After reading a story of the birth of Christ from either a storybook or the Luke 2, use this picture timeline to help your child recall events and their order.

Day 2:
CHRISTMAS color book- Will help your child with beginning letter sounds.

Roll and Build Nativity– Reinforces beginning counting skills.

Angel in the Sky Craft– This activity will let your children experience the joy of the angels appearing in the sky to the shepherds! (See Lesson Plan for directions.)

Day 3:
Alphabet Maze to Bethlehem- This activity will help your child learn and recall the alphabet.

Measure with Stars– In this activity your child will use Christmas stars to measure parts of the nativity.  This activity will also work on counting skills.

Nativity Tubes- For this activity you will need to collect several toilet paper tubes, or you can print out the printables on cardstock, which will make them durable enough to stand.

Hello! I just came across your blog and LOVE it! I taught 3rd grade for five years and also decided to be a stay at home mom to my two boys, who are one and four. I will be checking back daily and have a coupon blog at wwwiheartcoupondeals.blogspot.com…but have thought about starting a blog for all the things I come up with to do with my boys as I am doing preschool and home and recently decided to homeschool my son for kindergarten next year. Thank you both for sharing all your hard work. I especially love the lesson plan format! Thanks again! I’ll be checking back often!!!

I love all of your lesson plans and printables…. I’d love doing the spelling activites too but worry it might confuse them having all the letters in capital instead of lowercase or both in the case of the names (since they are aware of that). Do you have that problem?

I guess I’m not too worried about it. We use letter tiles and my son finds the lowercase letters to put on top of the capital letters and sometimes we just match capital letter to capital letter.
