This week we thought we would have a little fun with some football. Below are a couple of the popular choices in our house, well they’re the only football books in our house. You see our library had a limited selection, so you get what you get. If you would like a couple of other ideas then check out our Amazon Store.
T is for Touchdown
is a fun way to teach the alphabet, which my son loves. He is a big fan of letters and football. Each page has a short rhyming sentence telling about how the game is played or historical facts from the sport. The illustrations are very unique for a children’s books because the pictures actually look like canvas paintings. To top it off though, this book was also a big hit with my husband because each page had 2-3 paragraphs of additional reading about the ideas introduced in the rhyming text. Overall, it’s a worth while read for football fans big and small.
Gunner, Football Hero
is a story about an awkward little boy who wants nothing more but to play quarterback for the town’s Pee Wee Football League. He gets his wish and makes the team, but finds himself on the bench every game, that is until the championship game. This book has an original storyline and eye catching water color illustrations. For a children’s book its kind of a page turner and even has a funny twist at the end.
