Must Reads- Apple Theme

With Fall just around the corner, there is no better time to learn all about apples. This week we are going to be learning all about apples, from the assorted varieties and there taste to how the apple tree changes in the different seasons.  Below are a couple of our favorites books that we have read, so far:

Buy on Amazon. Ten Red ApplesAffilation Link. is a book my son loves.  We checked it out from the library last year and he wouldn’t stop asking for us to read it.  It seems that his love for it has not gone away because this year, he again, is constantly asking us to read it.  This story is written in rhyming repetition and as the title suggests is a counting book.  In this story, the farmer goes to pick an apple from the apple tree, but the farm animals beat him to it. Ten Red Apples is a great shared reading text, especially for little ones because they can join in at the end of every page with “Save some for me.”

Buy on Amazon. The Seasons of Arnold’s Apple TreeAffilation Link. is a simple story of a young boy and his apple tree.  It goes through how the apple tree changes each season. There are large illustrations on each page, along with a sentence or two of informational text.  My son loves to look at the pictures and we talk about how the tree looks each season.  This will be a great book to accompany one of our activities this week.

Here are a few other suggestions:

Oh, how I wish we’d held off on our apple week until we saw all the fun stuff you come up with!

My son’s favorite book during our recent apple week was “Apple Farmer Annie” by Monica Wellington. He also liked “Up, Up, Up, It’s Apple Picking Time”. I can’t remember the author on that one…
