Movie Night-The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown

This post may contain affiliate or advertiser links. Read my full disclosure policy .

This week we are learning all about pumpkins!  Here is what we did for a family movie night featuring, It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown!

image We had planned on having a snack with our movie, like we typically do.  The chosen snack was incredibly easy.  We were going to have Pumpkin Patch Parfaits (I am all about alliteration folks) which are pudding treats.  You can find Pumpkin Spice pudding from Jell-O this time of year.

If you’ve never had it, it’s pretty tasty.  The snack is simple.

  • Make pudding according to package directions.
  • Layer pudding and whipped cream in a dish
  • Top with a few pieces of candy corn or candy pumpkins

See-EASY.  However, I have a toddler.  Said toddler would not eat the parfait.  She wouldn’t even try it.  We even tried making her a chocolate version with a pudding cup we had on hand.

Not successful.  So we made this for her-a Pumpkin Patch PB&J.

Directions:

  • Cut 2 pieces of bread with a pumpkin cookie cutter
  • spread Peanut Butter and Jelly of choice on your pumpkin pieces

See-another EASY snack with a theme!  You all got 2 for 1 today!

We ate our snacks and watched our movie.  Elmo joined us.  It was a fun night, and E really liked watching Snoopy.  I hope you all have a great family night!

Disclaimer-I remember watching The Great Pumpkin as a kiddo.  We didn’t think there was anything offensive in it, but you should know that all the Peanuts dress as ghosts, and Lucy dresses as a witch, to go trick-or-treating.  We encourage you to pre-view everything you watch with your child and make sure it fits with your standards.

Was it the whipped cream and not the pudding that she objected to? We got Xander an ice cream sundae when we went out to eat and he was enjoying the ice cream but then he got a bite of whipped cream. You’d think we’d tried to poison him, he spit it out and wouldn’t go back to the sundae at all.
