Movie Night- The Christmas Story

This post may contain affiliate or advertiser links. Read my full disclosure policy .

This week we are learning about the birth of Jesus.  So, I searched the web for some yummy snack ideas and came across a few like: Hubbard’s Cupboard Edible Manger or even haystacks.  However, I just didn’t feel right eating baby Jesus and we made haystacks (tumbleweeds) during our Desert Unit.  So, I decided that we would just make star sugar cookies.  You can’t go wrong with sugar cookies, plus they go great with hot chocolate!

We ended up trying a new sugar cookie recipe, after getting help from our neighbors.  We actually had to ask to borrow a cup of sugar.  And evidently, you can go wrong with sugar cookies.  Our cookies were edible, but I don’t recommend them. I’m not even going to share the recipe because it wasn’t the best.  Do you make your sugar cookies from scratch or are you a Betty Crocker kind of girl?

To end the night we watched…wait for it… A Charlie Brown Christmas. I’m sure you probably guessed that already though, didn’t you?  Just so you know we have officially watched all of our Charlie Brown movies, so odds are this will be the last movie night for some time with our favorite character, Charlie.

Movie Ideas:

  • Below you’ll find some possible movie ideas to fit our theme.
  • Use your discretion on what is appropriate for your child.  These movies are merely suggestions and you should read and consider reviews of these movies before watching them.
  • Be sure and check Netflix if you have an instant streaming option.
