Magazine Rainbow

Our house is wrapping up our Resurrection Eggs series, so we haven’t made our craft for this week just yet.  We are going to be making a Rainbow collage with old magazines.  We made this last year and it turned out wonderfully.  Here is the post from that craft night.  Hope it inspires you to make some of your own!

This week we read All Aboard with Noah and What Makes a Rainbow?

All Aboard with Noah      What Makes a Rainbow

After reading about rainbows some, we made this collage rainbow that my friend, Sarah, told me about.  Here is what you’ll need:

  • Blue Construction Paper
  • Magazine ads that are predominantly red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple
  • Cotton Balls
  • White Glue

We went through old magazines and looked for colored pictures and E got to tear them up in little pieces.  You could tear the pieces ahead of time if you’d like.  Depending on your kiddos attention span, that might be a good idea.  E then got to glue them, which I think was her favorite part.

We worked from bottom to top (so we started with purple) and then glued cotton balls on as clouds last thing.  This was a fun activity, and I know E liked it.  We had some guests for dinner and she really wanted them to see her “ainbow”.  Let me know if any of you try it and how it goes!
