Holding the tiny, lifeless body of our son Griffin in the moments after he was delivered was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. There was nothing we could do to save him. God had already taken him to his eternal home in heaven. But we wanted him here with us. Tears flooded my eyes and rushed down my cheeks as I looked at his tiny little hands and feet. I knew he would never use those hands to hug me or those feet to chase his brothers. His hands would never serve someone in need and his feet would never carry him to a distant mission field.
At the time of his delivery Griffin was about 18 weeks along. Even at only eight ounces and six inches Griffin was a person with so much potential. Ten fingers on his hands for work and for play, strong legs to carry him near and far, a heart that once beat steady and true. It is heartbreaking to think that a mother would consider taking the life of such a precious gift at this stage of development. If only she could see in her child what we saw in Griffin.
Our prayer is that a mom-to-be will realize all the potential God is creating in her little child and embrace this invaluable gift of life. A Woman’s Choice is a local crisis pregnancy center committed to presenting the gospel of our Lord in word and deed by educating women facing crisis pregnancies, responding to their needs, and protecting the lives of unborn children. We have established a memorial fund at A Woman’s Choice as a way to honor Griffin’s life and, Lord willing, to give life to another child.
Griffin has forever made a mark on our family but with your help Griffin can leave a lasting imprint on this world. Through a gift in Griffin’s name to A Woman’s Choice Resource Center you can join Griffin in helping save the life of an unborn child.
If you choose to contribute simply select “In Honor Of/In Memory Of” in the “Where should we apply your contribution?” field. Then simply add “In Memory of Griffin Jeremiah” in the additional comments field at the bottom.
Thank you for all of your prayers and support. I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful blog family.
