Talk with your child about the following:
This week we are learning all about ants, huh? We’ve talked a little about where ants live, and we know that they like food a lot. Today we are going to learn something really cool about ants. Did you know that ants are very strong? Really, they are! God made ants very little, but they can lift things that are much bigger than them. An ant can carry something that is 50 times bigger than they are! That’s how they carry heavy crumbs of food to their anthills.
Now, if you were an ant, you might look at heavy crumbs of food and say they were just too big for you to pick up. But you know what, God made ants to do big things, and He made you to do big things too. There are a lot of things that can seem bigger than we are, and things we just can’t do on our own.
When we can’t do something by ourselves, what do you think we should do? We should ask for help. Our Bible verse today tells us that we can do all things with Christ who strengthens us. When we can’t do something on our own the best person to ask for help is God, who will give us all the help we need to do big things in His name. Now we might not need help lifting heavy things, but we might need help being brave in a thunderstorm. We might need help being happy when things don’t go our way. We might even need help when someone makes us angry. All of these things are big things God can help us with!
Let’s pray and ask God to help us to do big things.
Dear God, we know that we were made to do big things for you, and that you can help us do all things! Be with us this week, and help us to know when to ask you for help! Amen.
