Here is what we’ve been doing this week. Let us know what you think. We hope by providing these materials to you free of charge, it will make your life easier!
Lesson Plan: The lesson plan includes all the lessons for the week, as well as optional ideas. Items following the lesson plan are just the printables or links to websites we used to teach these plans. (Please note: On top of our lesson plan we are reading books daily that relate to our theme.)
Memory Verse: This memory card is for daily use during our calendar time. You can learn more about calendar time at 1+1+1=1 or Homeschool Creations. Our weekly devotional is an object lesson that will help your child apply the meaning of the verse to them.
Day 1:
P is for Pine Tree- Teaches your child how letters are linked to sounds to form letter-sound correspondence.
Count & Match Pine Trees– This activity will help your child begin to read, count and model whole numbers 1-10. (This activity was inspired by Confessions of a Homeschooler.)
Animal or Plant Sort– Use this activity to review the plants and animals of the forest you’ve learned about this week.
Day 2:
Letter Punch: P- Teaches your child how letters are constructed by tracing them in a fun way. If regular push pins are to hard for your child to grasp, then you may want to look into Jumbo Push Pins.
Pine Cone Size Sort– This activity can be varied depending on your child’s skill level. For example you can sort into 2 or 3 piles (Big & Small or Big, Medium & Small).
Animal Track Match- Have fun learning about the tracks that forest animals make with this picture puzzle. We recommend printing this on cardstock and laminating.
Day 3:
Color By Letter- This activity will review letters that we have be learning.
Roll a Graph– This activity will introduce your child to data collection and interpretation. Once you’ve completed the graph (first animal to 10), make sure to ask simple questions. Such as, “Which color is taller? What animal is that? Which color is shorter? What animal is that? How many times did we give the (animal) a sticker?” Make sure to show them how to use the graph, instead of just counting the stickers.
Online Forest Games– Sheppard Software offers a variety of preschool activities related to the forest.
We hope you enjoy these lesson plans and please let us know if you have any issues with downloading or using the items provided.

Thanks. They should all be working now.
I can’t wait to try the forest game. This all looks so cute!
Hello! On Day 2, the pinecone sort and the Pp links aren’t working. Thanks so much!
