This week we are talking about feelings. We are already working with some good ideas to talk about feelings in our unit this week, so I tried a couple of new games and ideas with E this evening as we had some family time.
The first thing we did was attempt to make a happy or sad face with our pattern blocks. We played around for a bit, but E really wasn’t wanting to make faces. She was more into the patterns. Go figure. Still, it was family time, and we had fun with it.
We also played a game where she got to up and down the steps. We called the up/down game. I spelled out the words SAD, MAD, and HAPPY on some paper, one letter per piece. I put SAD and MAD going down the steps, and put HAPPY on the opposite side going up.
She said each letter as she stepped on it, and spelled SAD and MAD, which got her down the steps, (get it, it got her down? Ok, I know I’m reaching here…) and then when she was going up she spelled out HAPPY. E did this several times. I don’t really know why it was so entertaining for her, but hey, it worked!
There are a couple of extra ideas for the week. I hope that maybe you can use them, or that they spark your imagination!
Great job! I “get it” and love how you presented Sad, Mad, and Happy on the stairs! Kerri
