“May I never boast, except in the cross of Christ.”

Materials:

  • An Easter Bunny (or something to represent it)
  • Some Easter Eggs
  • Easter candy
  • A cross

Directions:

  • Say the verse above with your tot.  We suggest that you print the verse off and use it every morning with your calendar time.  If you don’t do calendar time still say the verse each morning with your tot before you begin tot school.
  • Follow the cues given in this devotional.

Talk with your child about the following:
We’re getting ready to celebrate a very special day of the year.  Do you know what day is coming soon?  Its Easter!  We’ve been talking this week about Easter in school.  I brought with me a couple of things that might help us to think about Easter.  Let’s talk about them.

What’s this?  That’s right a bunny.  We see a lot of bunnies this time of year.  We talk about the Easter Bunny some at Easter time.  What about this?  Its an egg, right!  The Easter Bunny normally brings eggs at Easter, and he hides them and we have to find them.  Then there is this, and you know what this is, don’t you?  Yeah, its candy!  Its something else that the Easter Bunny brings in his basket.  I have one of those with me too.  We see all of these things at Easter, don’t we?

I have one more thing that we see a lot of at Easter, and its the most important thing.  What is this?  That’s right!  Its a cross.  This is the best thing of all about Easter.  You see the cross isn’t something like bunnies and baskets.  It is much bigger, and much better.

The Cross isn’t like a bunny, or  candy, or eggs.  All of those things are just for fun, but the cross is something important, and something wonderful.  You see at Easter, the Cross reminds us of how much Jesus loves us.  The cross is the most important thing about Easter.  Jesus was on the cross for you, and He was on the cross for me.  He was on the cross so everyone could see how much He loved them.  We will see a lot of things this Easter, but like our verse reminds us, the only thing we should boast in, the only thing we should pay attention to, is the cross.  Let’s pray.

God, we know there are going to be a lot of things that we see this Easter.  Help us to remember that the most important thing this Easter is the Cross.  Help us to remember each time we see it how much Jesus loves us, and what He did for us. Amen.

Questions to ask:

  • You may want to review last weeks questions with your tot
  • What is the most important thing about Easter? The Cross
  • Why was Jesus on the cross?  For me
