Brushing and Flossing Helps

This post may contain affiliate or advertiser links. Read my full disclosure policy .

Did you know that February is Dental Health month?  Neither did I.  Maybe Madonna did which is why we are doing this unit right now!  Anywhoo, here are a few ideas that might help you as you teach your kiddo about dental health this week!  Since we are going to give flossing a go I am paying particular attention to those activities!

This idea from Mama Bee and the Hive is for a Roll and Cover Mouth! Ironically we will likely use marshmallows for teeth, but you could use gum, or cotton balls! We will likely glue our teeth on and “floss” around them too! This will also keep us from eating them!

Shining our Lights has a wonderful and easy idea for you mommies short on time!  Use a chalk board and a toothbrush to help you kiddo learn proper brushing techniques!  Draw the teeth and then let you kiddo erase them by brushing.

Here is one more great idea from Mama Bee and the Hive. Let your kiddo practice flossing with a mega block and some playdough! Truly I tell you, its brilliant!  Mama Bee has many wonderful ideas on this page, so check it out!

Lastly, because I literally just found it, is this awesome Science experiment from 1st Grade with Miss Snowden.  I know that E wouldn’t fully get it, but it was just too awesome not to feature!!

Have fun learning!!

We are talking about teeth this week too!  Brushing, visiting a dentist and healthy foods.  We have a neat activity to do with them that I am going to write about later this week after I have pics 🙂

Love it!  Try a dental prop box-with smock, laminated teeth, dry erase marker and eraser(glued to a paint stick to resemble a tooth brush). throw in a few laminateddental  record sheets that show the teeth for them to draw on and count.  Large mirror, some goggles,  and a laminated sheet(with velcro) to show good good and bad food (with velcro attached to food pictures).  I have tooth paste boxes in as well.
Looking for ideas to use play dough and the sensory table.

Colgate has teacher resources on their site, too.  In fact, I received an entire kit with toothbrushes and paste, DVD and little books for kids (24 in total).  I am going to have my mommy group over to do this with their kids.

Brushing and flossing your teeth are both important especially if you want to maintain the cleanliness of your teeth.

It’s a cool activity for your kids. This helps them understand the importance of dental hygiene in dental clinic florence
